I bought a Tramp trimaran in the fall of 1997 after researching what my limited budget could afford. I grew up sailing a Cougar Mk III catamaran on Tuttle Creek lake just north of Manhattan, Kansas. My first thought after moving to the Seattle area was to find a solid deck catamaran of similar design. The Maine Cat 22 was about the only boat I found at any price (no longer produced). After pulling a frozen toe out of Puget Sound, I decided that a beachcat was not a good option. I wanted a boat that I could trailer and set up in a reasonable amount of time. The Farrier design philosophy fit right in, if I wanted to spring for a Corsair (again out of my budget). Looking through the Multihull Magazine classifieds for a used boat led me to find the Tramp. The only problem was naming a boat that is a bright international yellow-orange with black trim. Since I live next to Robinswood Park, I guess that makes me Pooh and Pooh has a bouncy striped friend by the name of Tigger.... |
